Can anyone tell me the best way to get at the points , condensors and magneto on an old 8n tractor with the distributor and magneto in the front behind the radiator. any hints would be greatly appreciated.

Andrew, The easiest way to get at the points and associated ignition parts (i.e. rotor and condenser) on a front mount distributor set up is to simply pull the distributor off the motor. Thats the easy part. IMHO you should empower youself with more knowledge via a service manual, the archives etc. so that you can perform a basic ignition check-out and tune-up from there. Finally, are you sure you have an 8N? I wasn't aware that any of the 8N's had magnetos but possibly the early ones did like the 2N "war tractor". Anyway the more informed individuals on this board could help us out with that.

Two bolts and whole dist, comes out in your hand. Only way to go. Many thangs in archives describing procedure and some of sponsers of this page give detailed instructions. Neils 8n page comes to mind
