Purchased a 1655 last year. Good strong tractor. Had a new radiator installed and injector lines. Had been using it to haul rolls of hay to feed cows this winter and pulled a grain drill for a couple days. Started making a roaring noise when put in overdrive. Then started roaring in any range. Found transmission seperating from engine(bolts loose and missing). Reinstalled new bolts and pulled two back together. Still makes roaring noise but only under load. Any suggestions?

The 2 halves whent together good? No dirt in between them? We broke more than one socket splitting tractors before we got the recommended socket. MAke sure they are good and tight like 300 foot pounds of torque. I would check them again, use a 3/4 inch drive and grunt a little! How do the two sprocket halves line up? You may need to tweek that a little.

Talking about the bell housing of transmission. (3/8 "bolts) Had about a 1/2 " gap between housing and engine. The two pulled back together good.

Thanks JS. Gotta make room in the shop to break it down. Thanks again.

Hey JS,
Got the tractor broke down. Noise is coming from the coupler chain and the shaft that rear coupler sprocket slides up on is very worn. Is this the transmission input shaft? It comes out right where the tractor breaks apart.
