I need a hyd pump for an 1800A. It's a Cessna 24307 RAF. Any one have a good source for a new one? I'm not interested in rebuilt. AGCO price is way too high. I also removed the relief valve it looks ok but will also get replaced. Are there any other things to check that will cause slow operation? I'd also like to install a oil cooler I was thinking maybe into the return line from the power steering does this flow all the time? will any extra restriction from a oil cooler cause trouble with the unit? It does leak some.

Well if it was me I would check some old Cessna distributor for a pump. To me the rear plate would be the key part. How much wear is in the bushings in your rear plate? Back in the good old days(?) when those tractors were new I made up a little plate so I could test the relief valve while it was installed in that manifold. I would try that before I got a new valve. You need to adjust it anyway. How much hydraulics do you need? Back in 1961 when I sat on the prototype 1800 with front wheel assist an exteranl hydraulic pump had been added to that tractor. It was being prepared to go to Green Giant and had a lot of external hydraulics added to it. Those Cessna parts like that are around. The kids at school goofed up a front mounted Cessna pump on an A-C with loader a year ago, I had an old 1800 pump and the front cover fit fine. J.

I called Cessna the pump and parts for it are no longer available. The pump had a fair amount of damage internally and last fall the front seal blew out. Now when took it apart I found the splines on the pump shaft and drive gear are shot as well. The releif valve needle has alot of wear on it. I just figure it's best to change it now as you can't get at it once it's reassembled. I'll se if I can figure somthing out to test it. This was a canning co viner tractor from new into the 1980’s. Used to pull Pea combines in summer and a mounted sweet corn picker installed after pea pack. It appears that it had a set up on it similar to what you describe. You can see where it was mounted but was all removed before I got it. Some of the repairs and modifications on this tractor are interesting. I found the photo on the web.
