I have an 880 D and read earlier that a fellow believed a 730 would out plow an 880. From my experience as being the antique plowing champion of Washington Co. I much prefer the 880 as my weapon of choice. I use a Wheatland style 16.9/30 rubber two sets of rear wheel weights and calcium chloride. I plow in low 5 th gear not straining the tractor at all pulling 4 14" moldboard plows.I also own two 990 Gm but I prefer the 880's tone also no problem plowing with my friends 830 Deere.People in my area are amazed at the torque the "little 880 " has. I love my Olivers.I have 2 990 2 880 .

Are you saying that the 730D wont pull the 4-14? Ive plowed lots of acres with a 720D and a 4-14. The 720D had no weights and 15.5X38 tires

I am not saying a 730 won't. I am just saying the 880 does it so much easier. Mind you I have both tractors. The powertrol is supposed to make the 730 superior, the 880 using a trailor plow no draft shows no mercy in soil changes.I have a friend true green JD man 720 D bored .125 fuel turned up etc. I can burn him anytime and he will tell you that reluctantly. Support me OLIVER fans. It's the truth.

I have a real good running late model 880 that is stock with fluid in the tires.Neighbor has a good 730 stock with fluid also we will find out who can handle the plow.By the way he is the one that pulled away from my s88.This is really the only way i liked to find out what can do what get um in the same field and run um.

I don't believe that anyone should argue over who's tractor is the strongest or the fastest. Especially two antique tractor fans like I think you two are. Besides you both have brought a knife to a gun fight, Just call me"Big Mo" Moline that is. I've got a Moline that is twice as old twice as ugly and twice as much pull. It reminds me of my wife when we got married.

Well, I was. The JD 720/730 Diesel is 59 hp, compared to the 880's 62. The Deere weighs a ton more-- roughly a third more than the 880.
