The hydraulic system on our tractor is not working as it use to. Found a spring about the size of a pencil in the filter screen. Don't know where to start. The pump is brand new, but system lift very slowly when I stand on lifting arms.

Thanks for your input guys!
I found where the spring came from this week-end. It was from the power take off lever on top of the transmission, it's rocking freely between position now. As for my Hydraulic system, I improved it by replacing a bypass valve.

A spring about the size of a pencil could be a pressure relief spring (usually with a check ball)- if so, and it has fallen out of the servo, most of the oil is bypassing. I've never worked on that model, but just a thought-

This tractor never did have real fast hydraulics, but that spring is weird. I don't think it is from the transmission anywhere, but you never know. I have never had that happen to mine. I would call Maibach Tractor at 1-800-808-9934, and ask for Tom. He might be able to spread some light on it. He has been a Oliver mechanic since the 70's, and he has one too.
