I have a Cockshutt 30 with the 153 engine that
needs a new front seal. The question is how do I
get the lower pulley off? It has a crankshaft jaw
instead of the usual bolt I'm use to seeing. How
does this come apart? Threaded? Right hand or
left turn? I can not see a pin, is it pressed on?
Also where can I get a new pulley or Buda parts
in general? Thanks for any help.

We have a three wheel heavy duty cart shop cart made by Buda. Name tag says Buda Chore Boy Model # FH

Engine number is Cart Serial # 4625 Engine #423788 We are missing the engine and would like information if you can help. Do you know if this is a Buda number or possibly Onan?

Regards,
Ivan

the motor that is in the cart that i have recently restored is a briggs and stratton motor, i would be interested in exchanging pictures to see what your cart looks like. Thanks.

Gary Bader has reproduction crank pulleys for
Buda Engines. Call 740-387-1428 after 8:30 EDT
or fax 740-397-1438. I usually damage mine getting them off. Hope this helps you.

How do you get the pulley off ? --With great difficulty . ha

How is it held on ? Once you get the crankhandle nut off , the pulley is just slid on and has a key in it . The book shows using a screwdriver to pry it off . I suggest two or three big chisels ,all at the same time . I had to get the crankshaft turned down , so the shop put the 40 ton press to work . It was on tight . Have chisels between pulley and mounting bracket .

What you are looking at is the hand start eye.It should have a square section you can wrench on and is a right hand thread. The neck on the back side of the pulley is the seal surface and is probably worn. You can get speedy sleeves to renew or haye a shop sleeve it before you install a new seal.

Thanks to everyone for the help and leads. I got
the crank eye off with a hammer, punch and a few
light taps. Now the pulley is another matter.
Tried prying with bars, no luck, will apply a
little heat with the torch tomorrow unless some-
one tells me otherwise. Thanks again.
