Does anyone know if the sheet metal from a 40
will fit a 30 model. I figure the hood is longer
on the 40 but what about the nose and fenders?

I have a 35 (which is the same size as a 40), and it has 30 sheetmetal on it. Silliest looking thing you ever saw. The 30 nosecone has to spread at the bottom to fit the wider 35-40-50 tub, so the grills are not parallel- they are about the right width apart at the bottom, but actually meet and cross a little bit at the top. The hood is too short, and so is the gas tank- so the whole lashup comes about 8 inches shy of hitting the steering pedestal in the back. I have the right sheetmetal for it, except the hood, which I'm still looking for. I would prefer a 35 hood, of course, but could use a 40 or 50, and relocate the exhaust and intake holes. Any hoods floating around out there?

It won't fit.
