I have a 1958 550 the tag is not readable on the distributor need model number I think it’s a Delco. Has anyone converted to the electronic ignition or used the hotter coil would like to know if it is worth the money? I am going to change rotor cap and wires in the YT parts it says not to use their plug wires with the electronic ignition. I would like to know why and what type of wires to use any comments on the subject would be appreciated thanks AL.

All Super 55s (1954-1957) use a Delco 1112555, so it is possible they kept the exact same distributor for the 1958 makeover into the 550. Generally non electronic ignition systems (points) use a 7mm diameter plug and coil wire, while the electronic versions use an 8mm diameter wire for the same purpose due to increased available voltage to the plugs. When I last tuned up mine, I put in a new Accel high output coil and noticed it starts pretty quick now.
