Email me... maybe I can get you a whole new alternator for your 1255. My computer's down right now(library computer here), but I should be back up and running at the end of the week.

Who said it can't be fixed? I bought brushes for my 1365 alternator right from AGCO. Have you called an AGCO dealer?? If no luck there, let me know.

I took it a electrical repair shop and had it checked bearings, diodes and brushes are all shot called the agco dealer and they said they could get part of the parts but not the diodes.Fiat doesn't make them anymore.

I'd recommend trashing the Fiat alternator and replacing it with a Delco 10SI internally regulated alternator. If you are at all mechanically inclined, making the swap is straightforward. The Delco alternator cheap - $15 or less at a junkyard, usually about $40 for a rebuilt at NAPA, AutoZone, etc. And the 10SI is plentiful - was used on nearly every GM car and light truck from the mid 70's thru the late 80's.

The mounting bracket would have to be altered. The wiring wouldn't be the same either. It can be done, there would have to be some retro-fitting.
