I know almost nothing about olivers at this point. I may be trading for a 1250 gas pretty soon and I'm wondering about the current parts availability for this model? I've always trusted everyones opinion on this board. Are these good tractors for utility work, Mowing baling grading, etc? Thank you.

I know I have heard horror stories left and right about these little tractors. My neighbor has one and uses it for light discing, shredding, and small blade work. He has not had any problems with it. Good running little tractor. Maybe he got lucky, or the duty is so light it doesn't strain the little feller.

Thank you for the responses. I am not going to get the 1250. Sounds like it's a good one, but down the road, you never know. Thanks again.

As a former White parts man I would suggest staying away from it. Parts are difficult if not impossible to get from AGCO. What you can get is expensive. I know when someone called looking for parts for one of the Fiat tractors I just wanted to go and hide. Ever know of a Fiat automobile that was any account?

I have agreed to buy a 1966 1250 gas from an Oliver collector. But after searching on the internet, I may have to reconsider. It is in excellent condition, only 1400 hours. Price is $6K.

I am worried about repairs. I assume you can find parts but you have to know where to call.

Can someone tell me if they're really that much more expensive to repair than other tractors of similar age and size, like a Ford 800, Oliver 550, MF-135 or MF-35? And are they really that much less reliable?

Thanks!!

Here's one opinion for you. We had one new in 1969, only kept it for a year due to engine problems. They are actually a Fiat imported by Oliver. Parts, I would think, would be difficult to find. There are similar inquiries on this board often. I would guess the 1250 is probably priced pretty well. While I know money is always an issue, from what I've seen and heard, the 550 would be worth the extra dollars. Good luck however you go. dwm
