Take a look at the 1655 for sale in the photo ads. Call me crazy, but that sure looks like a late model 1650 with 1655 side plates. The fenders are not decaled like a 1655 which I know doesn't mean anything. They could have been repainted. If you look close even looking from the side it sures looks like a 1650 grill. You don't see the protrusion out at the top like the 55 series had. Those rear tires also look a little small. I suspect those are 15.5x38 which were on a lot a 1650s. Not sure, but I thought some of the 1655s had bigger tires. Not trying cause a ruckus just bored and couldn't sleep.

Probably is a 1650, but there were a lot of variations on late and early models.

No headlight compartment in the grille, no fender stripes, no white scallop on the engine side shields, weather cap intake instead of pre-cleaner, narrow front wheels and tires, rather non-typical(for 1655's) 15.5x38 rears... I'd say it's a 1650.

Yeah, that sure looks like a 1650. Look at the rear wheels, that is a 50 series style rear wheel with the full rim, the 55 series has a rear wheel with blocks that hold the rim on and you can see light around the edges. Also look at the air intake, that is common on the 50 series too, the 55's had the plastic air cleaner bowl and metal top on the air stack.

I would say that is a late model 1650 with the three speed transmission that has 1655 decals on it... I would like to get a serial and model number on it to confirm what year it is and what model it is. Buyer beware there..... .

If you could look at the engine it might help on whether it is a 1650 or a 1655 . I could be wrong here but I thought the 1650 diesel had indirect fuel injectors (like on the 1555 ) which means you have fuel cells on the right side of the block viewed from the driver's seat . The fuel cells are accessed through what look like large bolt heads on the right side of the block (there are 6 of them , one for each injector and fuel cell). I also think the diesel return lines on the left of the 1650 engine screw into t fittings . The diesel engine on a 1655 is direct injection (no large bolt heads on the right side of the block across from the injectors ) and the return lines go into rubber boots like you see on the 1855/1955 .

Early 1650s had the indirect injection and later 1650s had direct injection just like the 1655 and White 2-70.

I believe this is a 1650 in 1655 clothing . I do not know if anyone noticed but on the real 1655 pictured the air intake is in front of the muffler while on the suspected 1650 the air intake appears to be behind the muffler . A friend of mine has a 1650 and a 1655 and he says on the 1655 the air intake is in front of the muffler and on the 1650 the air intake is behind the muffler . Also on the suspected 1650 I do not see the glass box diesel filter on the right of the engine which you see on the 1655 .

Good points Sam, I think you are correct. Also the other thing that makes me suspect is this seller has several different tractors for sale in the photo ads, and looks like a dealer, so he probably doesnt know much about this tractor, and is just going by the number on the side panel. Nothing like sniffing out a mystery Sherlock....

Here is a real 1655 for sale. Look at the different decals, the white sheet metal around the engine, the different rear rims, and the spin on oil filter. The air intake is the same on this tractor but most 1655's are different. I still think this is a 1650 with 1655 cloths on.

The 15..5x38 can be normal on the 1655's. I run them on mine. However, I too thought all 1655's had the front lights above grill which caused the portrusion. But heck, we learn something everyday.

Have really enjoyed you guys comments on the impostor 1650. Got my first Oliver this summer, a 1964 1600 gas. I love this tractor! It's an efficient size and mates well with the 7 foot brushhog. Got a 4th place, 7000# class at the county fair, too! Always wanted an Oliver growing up on the farm but Dad bled IH red. They were good tractors too, the 656 gas is like a cousin to my 1600, though i like the 1600 transmission better.
