I now have a rebuilt head and injection pump. The pump has been setup at 10% above the stock setting for the 1550 engine.

Should the front pulley have a timing mark on it? I have turned the engine over by hand and can not see a timing mark anywhere on the pulley that is on the end of the crank. Will I have to take the front cover off of the engine to see the timing marks on the gears to set the timing?
the engine runs but lacks low end power. I have to keep it revved up to get any power out of it. It has almost no lugging power below 1700-1800 rpm.

The timeing mark is on the flywheel, you find it by loosening the bolt that holds the small cover at the rear of the block. The 2 lines(marks) inside the pump should line up at the same time the pointer by the flywheel points to the FP mark.Tdc is allso marked so make sure you are looking at the correct one.You can make small changes by rotating the pump, but you need to take the small plate in front of the pump off to make larger ones.

Thank you so much for the info! Had the tractor timed last night and running great. I added your email to my shop manual.
