Well that 1950 closed without one single legitimate bid. If it was well worth the opening bid, as you said, it would have receive several bids. At least one honest bid. Don't you think?

No, I'm not saying they are worthless. That would be silly. I do have nice 1950 FWA and I would not sell it for $2000. All I am saying is that I would not pay as much for any tractor that I have not seen in person, heard run and driven. I also would be reluctant to pay as much to a person I don't know from adam. Thats what you get on Ebay unless the tractor is close enough you can go look at it. I don't think I'm much different than most people in that respect. Sounds like you got a good 1950 and since you are still happy with it you must have got a good deal.

I disagree. The 1950 may be worth the $4500 but not much if any more. So as an opening bid $4500 is awful high and will discourage people from even getting started. A person will work themselves up or talk their selves into things but nobody wants to start high. I think the seller has priced himself right out of the market because he does not understand the auction mentality. But maybe someone will jump on it at the last minute.

Scott, I disagree.I paid $5,000 for a similar 1950 3 years ago at a farm sale 300 miles away and felt like I got a good buy.I've used it in the field for 3 years now with no problems.Someone has already had the smarts to bid on the one on ebay. Its a $5000-6000 tractor in my area simply because only a few are left and absoluetly no one wants to sell.

An opening price of $4500 with no reserve is fair. You know its going to sell.I'd lots rather see one like this than one starting at$1,000 and having a reserve.I'm sure not going to start a nice 1950 like this at $1000 with no reserve.

6 years ago I was at a farm sale and saw a rough FWA 1950 bring $7,000 and they had to pull it to start it.Now that was crazy.

The people that don't think that these GM Oliver's are not worth that don't know much about them. They are the biggest thing on the oliver colectors market today and as soon as they open up the classic tractor pulls to models in the 60's you will not be able to get one of these for under 10,000 mark my words on this and if you don't believe me just look at the 99's. They bring the money because the HP potential in the jimmy is so great. Here in PA a guy had a 1950 for 7500 and it was sold in a week. The 99's back here bring 12,500 and up. So, say what you want and it might not be good for you but someone is willing to pay it.

No, what was crazy was me, at a consignment sale in Sunnyside, WA about 7 years ago, letting a 1950 FWA, running well with good tin and no obvious problems, go for $2,600. It just was so-o-o big, and I had no use for it. But I'm happy to report that I have grown in the tractor hobby, and now, having no use for a tractor doesn't even enter into consideration.

That someone that has a bid on the 1950 is a fake. Check the name. Zero feed back. Fake. Do you know much about Ebay? They do that all the time.

Do I know much about Ebay.Probably over 700 deals on there in the past 5 years. The first time we ever bid we had 0 feedback too.Got cheated once on a $25 item.

Not everyone on ebay is a deadbeat. On big ticket items I talk to the seller first to feel them out.I have added numerous rare toys and old original tractor sales lit to my collection as a result of ebay.

Sure enough. Exactly the reason I won't do business with ebay. It's called a "straw bid" and works like this.

Some "seller" posts an item for sale. He then bids on it himself at what he sets as his minimum price. Then lots of suckers think "hey, if somebody else thinks it's worth that much, I'll bid on it too!".

Its not mine.I live in SW Missouri and this tractor is in Ohio.I already have a nice 1967 model 1950.I have people contacting me all the wanting me to find them a nice 1950.Well,heres their chance and the opening bid is very fair.
