An other thing to check.
I took a trophy home from a Sat night pull. Next morning at a morning fair pull, I hooked on to the sled and when I let the clutch out she died. Started it back up and let the clutch out again and she died. I was just bearly able to get it back on the trailer in first gear wide open slipping the clutch. Lifted the side curtain and see that the manifold had opened up just above the carb in some cracks that had been there from the time I bought it. Cleaned out the cracks with a die grinder and filled them with blue gasket stuff and she was as strong as ever.

OK, so what happens? It won't snort? The engine starts to miss? The engine just dies?

Could be lots of things, we need to know more.

The first thing I'd check is to make sure the governor is moving the throttle when you pull hard. You can have someone observe it from the side (safely). If not, the governor may itself be broken, the linkage or pivots may be damaged/worn/dirty, or an adjustment may be required.

Next thing to check is the load screw adjustment on the carburetor. The manual will tell you the proper way to adjust it. If adjusting it seems to have no effect, something is wrong inside the carburetor.

If neither of these things help, post back as there are other less likely causes.
