Just purchased a 59, 770 oliver and the high and low are gone. Tractor run very strong, but stuck
in low gear. What do I need to do to fix the problem, or is it worth the effort.

I had to do some work on my Dad's 770 when I got it back from the man who bought it at his sale.
I pulled the sheet metal, radiator, and engine came right out with a hoist. The 3 armed device that engages and disengages the toque converter had two arms broken and had everything locked up.
Maibach's Tractor in Creston, Ohio were very helpful with parts and advice. It sounds like a lot of work but it was really pretty simple after I got into it, even for a fumble fingers like myself. It really is worth the effort.
