I just bought an Oliver 770 diesel from my uncle and need to do some engine work on it I was wondering where the engine sn and modle # are located on the engine.

Early engines had S/N stamped on the crankcase at the rear flange on RH side below the steering shaft. Late production with the alternator had the S/N stamped (vertical) into the support just below the alternator.

It's considered a 185 series waukesha, but some books will consider it a vrd232. Not really sure about the serial # of the engine. I never really needed to know.
