Are there any Cockshutts that came from the factory as LP? I'm thinking pre 1961.

I have an aftermarket propane 30. I know it's aftermarket because the opening for the tank is torch cut. Regardless, it's one sweet running machine. At $2.25 per gallon for propane I hope I never have to run it alot.

Cockshutt LPG? This is a wild guess but the factory rarely put out an LPG model. The tractor
was either converted by the dealership or an independant LPG mechanic/setup operation.
My reference shows nothing out the gate LPG for
Cockshutt from 1946 thru 1962.
In the Oliver line nothing rolled out in LPG from
1939 thru 1973. In 1974 it shows the the Oliver 1870 and 2270 ready to hit the fields with LPG
from the factory. The White tractor line from
1975 thru 2000 seems to have steered clear of LPG
out of the factory.
Maybe some of the other tractor LPG buffs can backup a regional refit center(s) to convert various heavy field tractors to LPG. Good luck.

Hello Doug

I have seen an 1850 Cockshutt with factory propane. It's 4 miles from me and I'll probably bring it home one day. In Alberta, propane tractors are exceedingly rare. I probably will change the engine tub and put in a Perkins 6-354 diesel.

Regards

Zoltan

The models 30 and 40 came with propane option
in 1953-56. Pretty rare to find one of those.
I believe these were the only LP Cockshutts.

There was a factory propane 30, (maybe 40) at the Mollard auction in Kearny, Nebraska a couple of years ago- it topped the sale, at over 6 grand. Wasn't running, as I recall.

It was a clean good looking 40. It went to Dave Stump in Michigan.
Unimog is right. 1953-1956 production years for the 30 and 40 propanes. Some tractors received field conversion to propane kits that were not supplied by Cockshutt. The factory propanes had a "P" after the model designation in the tub frame serial number. Keith McClure, Big Prairie, Ohio has a restored 30P and may be the most knowledgeble on the Cockshutt propane line.
