On my 1650 when I shut off the engine the hitch does not go down, until I start it up again- is this some sort of safety switch?

Thanks

Yes! The Oliver tractors have a built-in safety that requires that the tractor is running for the hyd system to work. WB.

Why didnt all the manufactures make this feature on their tractors also. It just plain makes sense to me to keep the three point in place when the tractor off.

Oliver uses what they call an interlock setup. It uses hyd pressure to unseat a check valve that keeps the hyd oil from flowing. Until the valve is unseated, the trapped oil will hold the 3ph or remote cyl in place. Sometimes when the hyd oil is warm the tractor will have to be revved up a little to get the hyd to work. That is the interlock doing it's job, as soon as the hyd oil flow is increased the check valve is unseated and the hyd start to function. WB.
