Can bad condenser blow a plug?

Last week I put in new plugs, condenser, points rotor in my Cockshutt 550 gas. It ran nice and smooth for about an hour on low rpms. As it was idling, it suddenly died and wouldn't start. After checking gas, carb spark etc I decided to put in a new condenser and Presto! it worked. However there was a miss and I narrowed it down to on single new plug that wouldn't fire. New plug in and everything is fine. So my question is whether these were two seperate failures or can a bad condenser actually cause a plug to blow?

Two seperate failures.

The condenser got hot and broke down thus killing the engine.

The plug fouled because of the low rpm's you were using. Most plugs made for these tractors now are heavey duty. They foul easily at low rpm's and no load.

If you are not going to use higher rpm's much or spend a lot of time idling around, you might try finding a hotter plug.
