I recently checked my 77 puller at the PTO, and was wondering how much HP diff is there between the PTO and the engine, does it loose a couple of ponies>>>??? or is it the same. thanks

PTO horsepower is normally about 80 to 85% of engine horsepower. Bare engine Horsepower is just the engine, no water pump, alternator and none of the other accesories like hydraulic system, operating the transmission and friction loss through drive train for the PTO. All four wheel articulated tractors use bare engine horsepower for advertisement purposes since most did not have a PTO. Some companies started it that way and others had to follow to be comparible.
