Recently got my first Oliver (880). Is the power booster supposed to be a shift on the go deal like a Farmall TA? It pulls with the handle all the way forward, but the speed won't change when I pull the handle back. I'm trying to find an operator's manual to see how to adjust this thing.

It should operate similar to a TA when you pull the handle back it should slow down. The oliver unit used a twin disk clutch for direct drive (high) and a sprag which catches automaticly for low. Either the main power buster clutch is sticking and not releaseing for some reason or is it slipping and not engageing direct drive so yor always in low. Usially when the sprag clutch fails it will stop when pulled back. If it does this push in the clutch because it can and sometimes will grab suddenly after stoping. It can send an unsuspecting driver off the back if no load and high rpms. You should hear a audible click when shifting it back. good luck
