1) a single wire self excited 12v alt

2) a 12v coil

3) a 12v battery

Change the polarity on the battery to neg ground, remove all the wiring from the gen and the volt reg to the amp meter and replace with a single wire. If you want to keep the same 6v bulbs in the lights, you can use a voltage reducer between the ignition switch and the aux wiring.

I have a remanufactured parts factory locally and got the single wire alt for $45, a new 12v coil $15, a new blem 12v battery $25. The wire I had on hand and I also changed out the bulbs. Good luck to you.

I think all "supers" were 6 volt until 1958.

I believe all Super 55s were originally outfitted with 2 6-volt batteries in a 6-volt configuration.

I just can't understand why someone would want to change over to a less complicated more reliable and cheaper to maintain electrical system!?!

Guys - All diesels were 12 volt systems - but the early HC engines were all 6 volt systems - don't know what year they went to 12 volt on the HC engines but started with sn 46 001

All Oliver tractors came with 12 volt systems starting in 1957. Before that it was just the diesels.
