Does anyone have a good way to replace the brake cross shaft seals? The book says to remove the wheels and brake levers, shaft, etc. My tires are loaded and that would be a lot of work.

Any ideas?

I pulled the brake pedals and keys, then pushed the shaft one way til I could pull the seal, then shoved the shaft the other way and pulled the seal on the other side. It still leaks, because the shaft and bushings must be worn a little. You can change just the seal this way but it would be better to just do it all right.

My wheels were already off when I took mine out, but I don't see a way around that. But you could just take one wheel off. They shouldn't be so heavy that you can't just block up the rear end, remove the wheel, and roll it back and lean it against something. Just be sure to secure it well, it may be just a bit hard to pick it back up.

That's what I was afraid of. Thanks for the info. I'll have to gather everything before I start.
