I changed the oil on my 1650 gas today and it was very gas smelling. The oil level was also about 3 quarts high because of the gas I would assume. I had a problem about a month ago with flooding the engine. Is this normal with a flooding problem or do I have engine problems?

If you had a flooding problem the excess fuel will wash past the rings instead of burning. Guess where it ends up.

My 1750 was getting gas into the engine oil thru a defective fuel pump. A new fuel pump fixed that.

Common problem with tractors and the carb float sticking/flooding. For some reason gas seems to flow up hill and then back down in to the pan when the float sticks and then you have gas in the oil.
