1650 - she's running great

I started reading this forum regularly about a year ago. I purchased a 1650 diesel from a jockey and she wasn't what she was cracked up to be. After I got her home, I discovered a little engine oil in the radiator. After replacing the radiator cap with a new correct one, I got coolant in the crankcase. Found out one sleeve o ring was leaking by and the head gasket was also blown. The three point also would not work. I have completely gone through the head and engine with a overhaul. The three point problem turned out to be a key ring had come off the shaft inside. I have also replaced numerous other hoses, brakes, etc. etc. When my pocket book recovers, she'll get a paint job. I'll probably be approaching $10,000 when it's all said and done. But - I'm pretty happy. Thanks to all those who helped me along the way!

Hello all, right with you all, hooked on to the plow and had to plow the garden today I know of all days. Handier than pocket on a shirt, it's the only way I get to go back in time when you could feel real power and the wind in your face. It's like plowing the back 40 Ha Ha 40'x60' of garden. AB come over some time. Boco

I had my 1650d out yesterday, stuck the truck and fired up the 1650d just to drag it around. Started after sitting all winter and sounded good. SURE WAS FUN

Is this a direct or indirect diesel engine? 1650's are pretty hard to beat- I got a gasser, and I absolutely love it. Overall handy machine for any task:)

This one is a 1967 model, one of the last to have indirect. It's the second 1650 we've had on the farm. The other was sold off some twenty years ago. The nostalgia and cheap price tag got the best of me on this one, probably should have waited on a better tractor. But, I know what I got now with the fresh engine and I'm happy.

You stated you had a 1650 gasser. I agree they are very handy units, but when I am runnng the grapple all season in hay fields she gets to boiling the gas. You can take cap off and she will literly boil it out of tank and start missing. this is no fun.

They had a kit to help eliminate that on the 17 & 1850 models. If you used some of the same ideas it might help your 1650.
