Lower Link Attachment Point

I looked at a couple of tractors this weekend. Both had one of the "U" or "C" shaped bracket broken that the end of the three point hitch arms mounts to. This is the first time I can remember seeing these broken on a tractor. The tractors were a 1555 and a 150. Any idea of how hard it would be to replace the bracket? Both happened to be the left one if that matters.

Thank you

Also had one break on a 1655 years ago. When plowing with a semi-mount, came to the end to raise the plow and when plow was almost all the way up in the front, the left lower link came off because of using the snap-over ring type retainer in the 3 pt. hitch pin of the plow to hold the arm on and it came out. This put the right arm in a severe bind and that's the weak point. I turned around about the time the left link popped off. Had it welded and was still okay when tractor was sold many years ago. Cornstalks flipped the ring up while plowing is my guess and it came out. Never used that those retainers again, always bolts with double nuts and just put the balls on all the frequently used implements. Figured that was cheaper than what could have happened. I recently saw it on another 1655 I was thinking about bidding on--the “lower link support” was broken with part of it gone and the shaft seal was leaking, it was also the right side. I asked Larry Harsin on his site about replacement. As the other post said, you can replace it by taking the PTO assembly off, but the IT manual says the hydraulic assembly must come off the top. According to Larry, this is not correct. I ended up not getting that 1655, so did not pursue any further.

The 1550 and 1555 are the easyest to replace. The 1600 is harder.

We have had 3 of these broken on our various Oliver tractors. Have to remove the pto to replace with it taking anywhere from 1/2 to 1 day to do. The breakage would happen when one of the 3 pt arms would unhook from the implement. The implement would then swing out and climb the tire before snapping off the other side's bracket. Luckily no one got hurt. We have replaced 2 with used parts and had one welded.
