A while back I posted about my loader bouncing when you lower it. The hydraulics for the loader are hooked to the two remotes on the tractor and are plumbed through ball valves. I can completely shut off the oil flow to the loader if I want to. Recently I discovered if I only open the valves slighty there is no more bouncing of the loader. Is this ok or will I damage my hydraulic pump? I think I am just basically using the valves as a restricter valve now.

You can do that on the tractor itself, I think it's the screws near the top of the cover, kinda under the seat. I adjusted our 1855 this spring (different location, same effect) by loosening the jam nut, and screwing it in until I got satisfactory results. I ended up leaving it that way because now we've got a new haybine that uses single acting hydraulics to lower, and our chopper uses those remotes also for the spout turn, but the lines are 1/8" so they're already restricted. I've adjusted the restrictor screws on the tractor already. I have them all the way in and still bounced. This seems to work though for now. Should probably replace the restrictor's on the tractor one of these days. Are you going to be at the Steam Engine Show in Chilton this weekend. I will be going on Sunday.

Sounds like there might be some crud in there or something. i guess it won't really hurt to close the ball valves a little, but you should be able to get everything you need from the screw.

I'm probably gonna be busy all weekend but I'm gonna try to sneek away for a little while. The 1600 is busy right now so unfortunatley it won't be able to go either. My best hope is either Saturday or Sunday.
