Here is the chopping equipment resting between fields and getting ready for another day. The 1850 is powering the chopper, the 1655 is pulling wagons along with some red tractor. Who let that 986 IH into the picture??

third party image

Here I am chasing the Chopper through the field.

third party image

Here is the 1850 Cummins power running the 790 NH chopper. What a beast to the chopper.....

third party image

And here is the 1655 unloading wagons to the mighty 2150 4x4 that is blowing the silage up the silo.

More pictures later, enjoy....

Oh it looks pretty in the pictures that day. You should have been with us today chopping in the drizzle and muddy fields.

The 1850 has mud on the fenders and all over the sides, the nice clean 1655 that just got back from the show in Dover is mud from one end to the other, and my driveway looks like a hog barn. Not to mention I have been soaked to the bone three times in the last few days trying to chop corn around the thunderstorms. Some of the fun of trying to get the corn in before the next rain comes again tomorrow. Where was all this rain when we needed it??? We pretty much totaled two feilds getting corn off, will have to spend some time this fall fixing the before planting small grain.

Post some pictures of your Olivers when you get a chance.

Yeah, we harvest enough silage to fill a silo or two depending on what we need, and the rest we shell for feed and normally some to sell.

We chopped 4 fields, total of about 45 acres or so to fill the silo we finished filling today.

Will be moving to the neighbors tomorrow and start on his silo if the rain doesnt get us.

I'll have to get some pictures of the harvest this year with the 1855 on the chopper and my 1600 in full dress on the blower. We're hoping we've got enough to put some in a bag again this year but we won't know until we start chopping.

We're hoping to start next weekend, we gotta bale 3rd crop this weekend. Plenty of work going on at Starwood Holsteins...

Gonna be a pretty similar sight for us next week in SE MN.This weekend I hope to get the wagons,NH 782 chopper and the Owatonna blower ready.Of course Oliver and White power-houses!!(I'll post some pics)
The 1850 and the 2150 look like they might be hard on the ears?I hear the Cummins really bark through a straight-pipe.
THANKS for the great pics!!

I would love to see some pictures of your operation. I like seeing how other people do it.

You are correct, the 1850 and 2150 are pretty reasonable when they are not under load or are at half throddle. Put those tractors under full load at near full throddle and their bark gets pretty loud. You learn to stay away from the end of their pipes when they are pulling.... I love that 2150 to the blower though, you can never pull it down with 210 HP on a cummins engine pulling. Just unload the wagon as fast as the blower will take it....

I chopped a little corn yesterday here in WI. A little too wet though yet, still about 72 percent. Sure was working the 1650 hard but she always seems to run better when she's working hard. My 1650 is having no problem handling 2 rows at a time that are over 9 feet tall. These Oliver tractors are pretty impressive. I love mine and can't wait to get a 1850 or 1950 next year. What moisture level do you have in your corn, looks pretty dry.

Yeah it is too dry. We try for about 50% but this is probably low 40s. Corn dried down in a hurry this year and now after 3 months of almost no rain, we are getting pounded with thunderstorms and Ernseto. Always get rain when you dont need it, Oh well the beans are growing good now.....

I am hoping we can get back to chopping tomorrow or monday after nearly 6 inchs of rain in two days. Isnt farming fun :-)

Great pictures Shep..... .I saw your tractor at the Dover show, but missed meeting you. After the show I headed to Virginia myself to visit my daughter and family in Virginia Beach (Pungo)

Sorry I missed you Larry,

We met a lot of people from this board out there and had a great time. You can see in the pictures that the 1655 "was" still clean from being in Dover.

If you come through Virginia again drop me a line, we are only about 15 minutes from where I-64 meets I-81 where you probably turned to go to VA Beach.
