I need a water pump for my 1951 HG-42. Does anyone else sell these besides Zimmermans? Maybe a Hercules engine dealer? I just think 175. for a rebuiltd is too much...or am I off base here??? Thanks...

The high price is for convenience and saves running around. If you look hard - the parts should cost around $25. I've rebuilt a few of mine - usually all you need is the one-piece bearing assembly and a shaft-seal. The impeller can usually be saved by refacing it with a grinder and/or sandpaper. The old style seals - seal directly against the machined face of the impeller so it must be smooth. Newer style seals eliminate that need and seal on the bearing-shaft instead. Most waterpumps use generic parts that fit many applications. I used to rebuild waterpumps at a dealership and still have a box full of bearing assembles and seals. Deere, for example, only has about three different size bearings for everything. Many times the same parts that fit a small-block Chevy V-8 also fit a 420 or 1010 Deere, etc. I know I rebuilt a couple of my Hercules IXB3 waterpumps (HGs and OC3)and had no trouble finding generic parts to fit. Now, a Case DC is a little different story - but that's not your problem.

Have you priced water pumps for say a 70, my catalog has them at $217. Ya they can be a little on the high side. BTDT on a couple of the ones I had. Shoot don't price one for a Farmall M, they want $300 plus for one for the M. Ya I know I said something about one of them nasty red tractors in a green forum LOL. But what can I say I have a lot of differant colors in my sheds

Explain a little more about your water pump. Where are you located? A year ago a kit was about 80 dollars. Send me an e-mail address. J.

I went to park my crawler for the winter, and when I started it, coolant was spraying everywhere. I was leaking from the weep hole I assume as between the fan pulley and pump body was saturated. I live in Western NY state. For $175, she can sit....a long time.

You might check with AGCO dealer for repair kit?
Have fixed a couple water pumps. Use a press and a variety of sockets, plates, and feeler gage to squeeze or press the parts apart and reassemble Not having your water pump in my hands I can"t tell you the exact procedure. Trick is go slow and don"t over force any movements.
Once apart read seal numbers if readable. If not, measure inside/outside diameters of shafts and bushed surfaces. You’ll need these numbers to order parts from a supplier like Applied Technologies. An outside source such as AT is often cheaper than factory parts. Cost probably around $20.00 To $25.00 for seals and bushings.
