Engine serial number is loacted on right rear motor flange. It is a long number. On your oil filter question. Original filter base takes 2 filters/ When the better quality filters were put on the market a single filter was used. Many were converted. More questions?J

Still can"t find it - I assume drivers right and side of engine block at aft end running up and down just above engine mount. I found a flange where motor block mounts to trans bell housing - but no numbers. Found a set of casting numbers on left of block 104305A 190320N and 3170

Thanks - I"ll look for it today - any idea on when change was made to single filters - I have a feeling motor may be more recent than tractor which is 1956 - but I"ll know more later today as I have build card that shows motor no s/b 1002156.
