I have very little oil pressure. The guauge barley movesI pulled the line off the side of the block and the oil just trickles out.I pull the pan and the pump off and cleaned out the screen. Every thing turns, but still no pressure. A worn out pump or is there something i'm missing
Thanks

Well if it the 88 diesel then clean the pan and try to look and make sure the pick up tube is clean and look at the teeth of the pump or look at the shaft to see if its gotten broke or something blocking oil holes in the block.

Firt of all is this on an 88 diesel? Next question: Which oil filter base do you have? Is it the base that takes 2 filters,is a later cast iron replacement base or did someone install a single older base from a gas engine on it? A common occurance on the older aluminum base and had a problem once with a double base (but it was a little different) is the stem that sticks out of the base has a restrictor disk under it. If the stem comes loose and the restrictor disk becomes lost you will have very little oil pressure. So check that then get back with us. J.

I need to do a little thinking on that dual base. I think I only had 2 apart at best. Most of them got pitched when the new improved base was introduced. Selling point was, pay for the base in savings over buying 2 filters. Are either one of the tubes loose in the filter base? Did your problem come about all at once? Do you know what a bearing leakdown test is? By the way, don't be looking for worn gears in the oil pump. Also remember worn rod bearings have no effect on engine oil pressure in your engine. J.

Those tubes are tight, I may have to find a guauge that goes lower than what i have. Mine goes from 0-70. I wasnt to concerned about the oil pressure, casue i plowed for 9 hours straight with no problems.

If we are talking about an Oliver oil pressure is 12-18psi and is a timed spurt system , not full pressure. Check the plunger and spring on the front RH side of the block, could be stuck open. Other things listed here are also very possible.

Was there any sludge in the pan? This could plug up the oil passages and restrict oil flow. Check your bearings too, close tolerances on the bearings determines good oil pressure. Worn cam bearings too. I wouldn't run the tractor until you find the problem. Could do serious damage to your engine. Hal
