This probably comes as one of the most odd questions ever to be posted on this site. However, I am looking to see if I can locate the purchaser of my late grandfather's Oliver 880 tractor. It's been a long since since it was sold as his farm auction was on Sept. 21, 1996. We had his antique tractor auction on Sept. 6, 1997. My grandfather's name was Carl Bjorklund and he lived in Lakefield, MN right off I-94 in southwestern Minnesota. His farm was about an hour east of Sioux Falls, SD and about 5 miles north of the Iowa border. I contacted the auctioneer shortly after the auction and he had no records of the purchaser at that time. I understand it is now nearly 11 years after the tractor was sold, but I thought I would give it a shot to try to find the owner and machine. I used this tractor to mow a lot of roadsides, spray corn, rake and bale hay/straw, as well as it was my "play" tractor for when I wanted to go to my cousin's house down the road (before I had my driver's license). The tractor as I remember it was an Oliver 880. It had a narrow front end with no 3 pt hitch. It did have a hydraulic outlet as well as 540 PTO. The rear hitch frame had metal rolls welded to it to attach a JD sickle mower to the back of it. The fenders on this tractor were flat tops. I truly believe this was a gas burning tractor as I remember a distriubtor on it. The tractor probably was purchased with a tachometer reading less than 1500 hours as I visited the farm the fall before he was killed in a farm accident, which was the same year of the sale. I took an inventory of all his items at that time and actually found it all recently. I will be honest, I do not have the financial means to ask to purchase the tractor. I am simply inquiring to see if it is still being used and I hope it has made it to a good home. I would love to see the tractor restored as well. If anyone has any information on this tractor, I would love to know about it. At times, when you have such a "connection" with an item, you just want to check on it to make sure it still is doing ok. Thank you very much for your time for reading this odd post. Aaron.
