Gentlemen: I have a 1755D that broke the input shaft. Well, I found the previous owner had broke and then welded the coupler sprocket to the shaft instead of fixing things the right way. So I took the tractor apart, rebuilt the over/under and got the rest of the parts I needed. When I was installing the new shaft assembly, I noticed it along with the other gear sets were all spinning nice and free but as I tightened the nut againest the rear bearing I couldn"t turn the shaft and gear sets anymore or tighten the nut anymore. The shaft was not fully seated as it was before. Is this correct or did something miss align along the way. I thought maybe the new teflon sealing ring is fighting with the gears meshing on the shaft.I did take it back apart and haven"t had time to work on it. As you know you need about four hands to keep everything together and get things aligned. I have the shop manuals, but this is the first time I have worked in the transmission on one so I am a little gun shy and I don"t want to be pulling everything backout the front again. Thanks for any help and/or advice.
Brad

That shaft should turn. Now you need to trick the shift collar a little. I used to center them and them see what my bearing preload was. Early ones did not have the nut on the back. I need to think a little bit. Send me a phone number too. J.

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. With fall harvest going on I"m not on the computer much. It is a 1973 by serial # and sports the Cockshutt paint and decals. I can be reached at 815-426-2293. FYI, I"m located in northeast IL.
Thanks Brad
