I'm trading for a'59 880 Diesel and want to add the auxillary "power-booster". Which ones will work from the 1600s or 1650s? and what else does it take bolt up in the space between the engine and rear end?

The 16xx series used a completely different 'booster', it was hydraulically shifted. The two-speed was a "Hydra-Power" and the later three-speed was the "over/under Hydraul-shift".
I don't think it is possible to install either one in an 880, unless you want to spend a huge amount of money.
Look for a used 'Power Booster' from a 770 or 880 at a salvage yard. Others can tell you whether you need to get the transmission input shaft also.
Keep in mind that there were two versions of 880 transmission, early ones being sliding spur gear and later ones a constant mesh helical type.
