I am purchasing a Co-op E3 that has excessive front wheel wobble when going down the road in 4th gear. I would like to know if it is repairable, and how deep my pockets have to be, before I complete the purchase.

Hi,

Das is correct. You may have to add shim stock to drive the lever plate pins higher into the steering worm gear or change the pin positions by reversing the two worn worm center pins with the two on the outside edge of the lever plate. If you still have trouble after his advise, check the: (1)wheel bearing play, (2)movement between the vertical shaft and the lower spindle assy.

I have all the parts that you will need in stock, some new and some used. Depending what you find/need, the parts cost range estimate is $0 to $200+.

Chances are you have worn out steering u-joints
which are replacable at reasonable cost. There
are pins in the steering box that also wear and
are also replacable and don't cost too much. The
parts are available from Phil Heisey, 215-256-8651
