Will the 478ci diesel (Including the three speed hydra power) out of a white 2-135 fit into an Oliver 1800 or 1855 if you used the frame off of the White 2-135. I was also wondering who made that 478ci, was it White or was it made by Perkins or some other company.

You need to use a 20/2150 frame and engine mounts, The white fames put the centerline of the crankshaft in a different location than the oliver rear ends. the white engine and 3 speed will work fine, the simplest answer is to change the tail housing on the white 3 speed and the sprocket coupling will go right on. the outpt shafts are the same. using the right parts you can make it bolt together just like it came off the assembly line.

I guess that it is wrong to have a 1950 T engine in a 1750 running 160HP to use on the farm. It is just pulling. Life of the tractor is not the concern. At least the right green is being kept together.

Engine is a 478 Hecules. You could take the trunnion mount (overdrive piston hsng)off the rear of a 2-135 tork and put one on off of 55 / 50series 3spd. I'm not sure if you'll have enough room for the additional length of the gears and chain. I would look at a 2050 or 2150 to see if the engine mounts on the engine and frame are at the same location. The frame off the 2-135 should be the same as a 2150 and should bolt up to an 1800. I would think that this would be your best shot to make it work.
Anyone can gladly correct me if I'm wrong.

I beleive that engine is a Herc.

I'm sure there uis a way to stuff it in the 1800, but I can't say it'd be easy. The White tractors aren't connected by a chain coupler like the Oliver's were, so you'd have to change the input shaft on the 1800 or the output shaft on the over/under unit, and I don't think either one would be a very easy task, although it probably could be done with some creative engineering.

It can be done and has been done, the one that we did had the three speed removed and only used the shaft. The only problem is changing from the trunion to the chain collar. I wouldn't worry since you are changing the tub.

GFS,
Your saying eliminate the three speed and run a "direct drive" shaft. Then on the end of that shaft, we could put a chain coupler to couple with the 1800. Another option may be to just go with the waukesha 310 turbo diesel, and use the oliver frame and the three speed. We"re not quite sure what to do, want to build a hot farm/ open class puller. Thanks

GFS,

I am just wondering if you used your tractor for pulling? The reason I ask is I also have an 1800 with a herc in it that I pull. Here is a picture of it but the picture is not very good because it was taken from a video.

It was used on the farm, then I was going to pull the tractor and ran into a deal on a 2255 that was already set up. Sold the herc engine to a guy in Ohio to pull the classic super class then they changed the pump rule, haven't had any contact with him since. The rear went to another fellow to make a puller. As for the inputs, if I was going to make the tractor really hot I would go to the straight shaft and forget the hydraul shift, but for hot farm or farm stock it is kinda fun to have the downshift without the slippage of a t/a or the stopping of a powershift. The 310 makes some power but the old axiom is no replacement for displacement.

I also pull mine in the classic super stock class in Ohio. Was the guy you sold yours to Ron Bailey?

GFS,

That would be me. I guess you are the one I bought my motor from. I lost track of your e-mail and never got to send you a picture of the tractor.

Click on the name and send me a pic, hope everything is going well and that you are gaining on the competition. Did you switch to a "p" pump or still running the rotary.

GFS,

I tried to click on the name but it didn't seem to work.

I do have a p-pump now but I never did get to pull it with the p-pump. I did drive it around a little with the p-pump but the next time I started it up, a valve seat fell out and really screwed up a couple pistons. I have it all torn down now and I am planning to remove the sleeves and run John deere 6030 pistons right in the block. This will give me 518 inches. I am also going to remove all the valve seats and use larger valves that are big enough to seat right on the head. I am also making some new gears for the transmission so it will have 6th gear and 3 gears faster. I am also removing the over under and just using a straight shaft. The over under has held up so far but I don't think it would with the extra power from the p-pump. I am hoping that next year it will be putting out about 800 hp. click on the word picture below for a picture of it.

Looks good, with the updates did you go to a crower type clutch or still using the pedal. How many rpm's can you get out of the herc. Best of luck in the coming year.

I have always used a crower clutch. With the old Roosamaster pump it would not go much over 4200 rpm. With the p-pump it should get close to 5500.
