I currently own a 2000 EF-1 (gas). I had some problems when I first got it in Oct. 1999, but once it was fixed, I haven't had a problem since.
I currently have 350 hours (not commercial use).
Its an awsome tractor for its size, and one should not discount its abilities until you try it. Make sure that you fill the rear tires with calcium to get the extra traction. Rental units will not have this option, so things may get a little bouncy riding it. I wish I had bought an EF-2 instead of the EF-1. The extra power and the 4WD with the larger bucket and backhoe would have come in handy.

Yep I've seen them. I liked the one I drove but I heard that the EF-3 & 4 have problems with the back axles breaking when they are turned all the way and put under full load. I have been looking for a used one to buy. Overall the designs of these machines seems to be super strong, other than the u-joint flaw on the back axle, Bobcat might have fixed this by now. I would like to find an EF2 or EF3 to buy. I hope Bobcat doesn't raise the prices.
