My Silver King 42 is going to need a battery this spring. The standard 6V battery is too tall to fit. What are you guys using for a battery for these tractors? thanks, Dan

New Castle Battery in Pa. makes a battery I found that works perfectly. It is a 6 volt type "19L"
It is the same battery used in early 6 volt Volkswagon Beetles. There is so little clearance between the Gas tank and frame that it is the only battery that will work unless you convert it to 12volt side terminals.

Thanks Galen, I did not want to convert to 12V as the tractor is in show condition. I was looking at the batterys specially made for old cars at $150.00 per. I'm too frugal (ok cheap)to spend that if I don't have to. You saved me a lot of trouble (and money). Aint this forum great? Dan J
