I own a deutz 60-06 that I purchased cheap last summer in a pinch. Through the summer it searved my needs making hay, but I did notice some oil consumption. I also noticed some smoke from the exhaust and excessive smoke from crankcase breather as well as oil dripping from the breather. Now that the temps are lower 50 degrees it doesn't want to start, even with a charged battery and the manifold heater. So I'm thinking a lack of compression and piston blowby are cousing these problems. My question is does this seem reasonable? Secondly I am able to locate the rings and gaskets needed, but not a service manual. Would someone have the torque values for the Cyl / Head as well as the ring end gap and side clearance.

O.K. While I'm here I have two other concernes.
When I release the clutch under a load I hear a loud groan or whine from the clutch/trans area. Once the tractor is moving it's fine and it can happen in any gear forward or reverse. Some times under a load there is a lot of chatter, mostly when tring to back up (feels like the tractor is jumping up and down)

Finaly beside the seat is a shifter to select 540 or 1000 rpm's for the pto shaft. When I run my haybine I have to tie that lever forward so it won't jump out of gear. It will rarely happen with my rake or baler.

Thanks for taking time and any advice you may have.

hi,

You're right, the pistons and the pistonrings are down. Need to change them. Seem that also clutch and/or tranny need repair. Also there could be less hydraulic oil in it. But it seems to be a clutch/tranny problem.
