I traded for a WD Allis Chalmers with what appears to be a LeRoi engine in it, can anyone positively identify it ? I have posted pictures in the HELP INDENTIFY section of this site. And is it worth any more than a regular WD with this engine in it ? Thanks, John J.

I have a LeRoi Tractair that has the LeRoi engine in it-which I understand a lot of Allis WD or WD45 parts will interchange. It seems LeRoi and Allis Chalmers worked together and supplied each other with engines in the past. How do you tell that your engine is LeRoi? I also have a WD45 and can see a lot of similarities between the engines.
I will watch your posted pic as I am also interested in these two engines and their relationship.

Jack, This engine was slightly stuck when I got the tractor, I have taken the oil pan off, Tractor Rod, over on the Allis Chalmers board confirmed that mine is a Leroi engine by the crank number - 5-295 , also my crank has a circled L with the part number. I was on the Tractair web and got specs on this engine if you need them, email me. The site says that this engine was 42 horse, at 1350 rpm, for the 226 cubic inch engine. As you can see, the oil filter assembly requires a can type filter, mine had a # 160 Fram in it, now has a Napa # 1080 in it, It also has on the filter side a plate covering a hole for a fuel pump. On the manifold side, of course you have the different manifold setup, and a different carb. Feel free to email me if you would like any of the limited info, or pictures that I have on this engine.

John
