Just added a Sametto 120 to our collection. It is a 1 cylinder diesel made by the Same corporation. Other numbers on the tag are: DA-120-1151 and 5239. Any other writing on the tag is unreadable. I am searching for any information on this such as year, production numbers, history, literature, parts availability, and other owners. Here is the real problem: The starter has been replaced before I bought it, and seems to be the wrong size drive or wrong gear tooth ratio. It makes an awful noise when attempting to start it. The starter that is on it is a Bosch starter with 9 drive teeth. Upon inspecting the flywheel gear, it looks as if the teeth are not meshing properly? Is this the correct brand of starter? How many teeth should it have? The approximate diameter of the drive is roughly 1.325" (337mm) as measured with a set of calipers. Is this correct? I have been trying to locate the previous owner to see if the original starter still exists, but so far no luck. I am somewhat familiar with tractors of this variety. A few of them in our collection are: Porsche A-111, Deutz F1L-514, Bungartz T-5, Belarus 250, Iseki PL-500, Nuffield 10/65, Renault, Cast 435L, Cast 430L, and all of the more common brands such as John Deere, Farmall, Case, and others. Not one of these sound this way when starting, nor do I find metal shavings inside the flywheel housing like I have on this Sametto. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
