Can anyone give me information on an Avery crawler. It is similar to a Cletrac HG---but not identical.
The sheet metal (hood and radiator cover) are Avery. The undercarriage looks identical to an HG.
There appears to be a difference in the differential housing and the battery is set off to the right side of the frame.

The seat is also very different.

It says Avery on the hood and Ro-Track on the track frame covers.

What model is it? When were they built? Did Cletrac or Avery build them?

Also does anyone know how to contact the Avery Collators group--I found a site, but no email or other means to contact anyone.

Any help would be greatly appreciated---I am a Cletrac guy but this has stirred a bit of interest in me.

B.F. Avery that bought the production rights and tooling to the General wheel tractor from Cletrac, was not the same company as the Avery that made the "Ro-Trak". The Avery Co. that made the Avery steam tractors, made the Ro-trak,and the Ro-Trak was their swan song of tractors, aand is pretty rare in the wheeled version, it could be configured for either nnarrowe or wide front end, by adjusting the front soindles and wheels, really weird looking, but neat.

Easy enough to swap Avery sheet metal onto a Cletrac HG, don't know why you would want to but it would be easy and the bolt holes probably match up. Yes, Cletrac sold the General wheel tractor to Avery about 1940, and then after WWII (the Big One) Cletrac was bought out by Oliver.

BF Avery did not make any crawlers, the few that are around the country are somethimg someone has put together, when cletrak sold the wheel tractor to BF Avery they sold the crawler business to Oliver, they used the same engine and some of the tin work and rear ends.

I have seen a photo of an "oddball" B F Avery crawler in a tractor book recently but it was a genuine model A with tracks. Don't know the full story on that one, but there was another Avery Company from Peoria, Illinois that made the Avery Ro-Trak model, never seen a tracked version but have seen a number of photos of their rubber-tired tractors. They had huge suspension pillars mounted on the front axle/steering asembly which acted as front springs.

saw a "supposed to be" Avery crawler on EBAY,was a Cletrac with B F Avery sheet metal, someone painted "RO-Track" on rails, not original seat, poster added later that he was informed it was a Cletrac not a Avery
