A friend of mine has a British Leyland Diesel tractor & I'm trying to help her identify the model number - I've not been successful in locating any serial plates, etc. on it yet.

It's a 4-cyl Diesel with a SIMMS injector pump - I'm gonna guess 50-70 HP range.

I've done some research on the Web but have not been real successful in finding any detailed info that would help with identification.

Can anyone out there provide any information on where to look for the Serial Plate, or to Websites that may have what I'm looking for?

Thanks for your time!!

There is a vin tag on the top of the driver side frame rail mid-motor that should give you model and serial number info. There is a stamp on the right rear corner of the head outside of the valve cover that will tell you which motor is in it. It is kinda hard to see without a good cleaning and a flashlight and mirror. Depending on motor it can be anywhere from 35-70 HP. If it is a 4/98-NT, -DT, or -TT motor then it is the 70-75 HP range. These are powerful midweight tractors that have a number of amenities such as remote hydraulics, independent PTO, power steering, and diff lock. They are good on fuel, too.

Thanks for your help! The VIN tag was right where you indicated, except buried under years of accumulated crud!

The unit is a Model 384, S/N 84N / 302488 / 149972. Are you familiar with this model? I haven't tried firing it up yet due to other workloads, but maybe this coming weekend.

Thanks again!
