I am trying to find any information for a friend who has a WW2 Clark T6 aircraft tow tractor.
We are in the UK in Lancashire and a brief history may help.

The tractor in question was brought to the UK by the american airforce in 1942 to be used at the airbase at Burtonwood near warrington in Cheshire.
We believe it was used to also tow bomb bogies . It is 2 1/2 tons but is only about 4 feet tall. Low enough I suppose to get under aircaft wings etc.
After the war it was sold to a Paint Manufaturer in a place called Darwen , in Lancashire to be used to tow low slung trucks around the works.
It was used as such until it was to be sold for scrap in the late 1990's.
The present owner worked and drove this tractor for the paint manufaturers for many years and on his retirement bought it for sentimental reasons.
He has since restored it to as original condition and occasionally uses it in local calvalcades and fairs as an exhibition piece.
Really we want to find out anything we can about
it.

Do you know or have any other knowledge of any others around?

Thanks.

Bill Ingham

Mr. Ingham:
I am a long-time Clark employee and have helped many Clark owners and restorers over the years. I can provide information and some history about your friend's Clarktor CT-6 tow tractor. All I require is the complete Clark serial number.
However, please know that I believe that this is the tow tractor for which I provided a hard copy parts book and Product Identification Card several years ago. If my memory serves me correctly, this particular tractor was shipped to the British Ministry of War Transport around 1940.

I have now completed scanning all of Clark's old specification sheets and will be happy to send you JPEGs of the specs for your friend's Clarktor.
Please advise.

Regards,
Joe Swelnis

My employer at Smiley's Inc. Mount Vernon, Wa. has a WW2 Clark Aircraft tow tractor that he just recently received. It looks like a Clarktor-6 Towing Tractor, duel rear wheels, with a large, oblong air filter mounted to the right side of the dash. Could you send me some JPEGs and mabe other sites that I could help adentify the tractor. It almost looks like the one that I drove while in the Navy, stationed on Guam, VQ-3, 1973. Any info would help.
