What is the serial number stamped on the top of the right frame rail. That will help determine the year and who was selling it. What color is it painted originally?

When Moline bought out Avery in the early 50's they were producing a MM "R"series in their line already. They changed the Avery "R" series model designation to "BF" in order to avoid confusing duplication of products.

The following is a quote from the book "Encyclopedia of American Farm Tractors", by CH Wendell:

"Benjamin Frank1in Avery moved his original Avery Plow Factory to Louisville in 1845. Avery started out about 1825 with a blacksmith shop at Clarksville, Virginia. From this small beginning, the plant experienced several major expansions. When the company was incorporated in 1877, capitalization was set at $1.5 million dollars.
Prior to 1939, B. F . Avery operated primarily in the Southern states, but after this time, distribution became nationwide, and indeed, the company achieved international status. Plows and other tillage implements were a specialty.
The firm was absorbed by Minneapolis- Moline Company in 1951, but the Avery name lasted a bit longer as a product line."

Does that help you any?
