Hey Craig. I saw Keith Miller's pictures from the Lagrange show and noticed 2 Long model A tractors there. I'm restoring 2 of them right now as well as trying to help with compiling serial number lists. I was wondering if anybody might have contact information for the owners of those tractors so I can get in touch with them. I noticed one even had a rear light, which i've never seen before. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Jeb. I have a 1949 Long "A". completely restored. I purchased it at the Ed Spiess sale. The serial no is 4982134. It has always been inside. I would be interested in selling it if anyone is interested. I have several other tractors, Olivers, CoOp's,Cockshutts and I really could use the space. M. C. in MO.

Are you sure that serial number is correct? Is that the number that is stamped into a tag, or is it stamped into the flywheel housing? It seems like your S/N has an extra number. The format is XX for last two digits of year, XX for two digits of the month, and then all remaining digits are the serial number. For example, our tractor is #481220, 1948, December, #120.

I know that less than 400 tractors were built, but your serial number would indicate that 2134 were built, which I know is incorrect. Could you double check that number and make sure that there are no extra spaces or numbers? I'm thinking that the "8" might really be a "0" with a diagonal through it or something. I'm unhiding my email so you can talk with me directly if you wish. I'm always looking for more information on these tractors!

Here are my pictures from Lagrange. Jeb, Like I told you before, I didn't get a lot of pictures of the Long tractors, I spent most of my time grinding and showing off the mill. being right next to the features I should have taken time to get more pictures of them. We did have some tractors there that aren't seen very often. P55, if you want to email me the pictures I have plenty of server space and will post them for you.

Thanks Keith. I'll download the chip and send some your way. I would like to see some of the Love's put in 'photo's. Not often you get to see four Loves grouped together and a Friday. Some didn't get enough light...I'll try working on them thru the photo lab.

Thanks Keith;

I got an email with those pictures in it, but the pictures were in HTML and so I couldn't save them!!! Now that you've put them online, I've saved them. Still haven't gotten around to calling the folks yet, but i'll get to that soon enough. Man, what nice looking tractors!
