I recently bought a Rumely 6 tractor in kit form and the engine is in pretty rough shape. So I was wondering if anyone knew where to find parts for these Waukesha 6 MZA engines? I'd even buy a whole engine if I could. Another question I have is does anyone know the proper paint color for these tractors?

Rumely 6 used a Waukesha 6 cyl. L head built to Advance-Rumely Specifications. I am not familiar with the MZA engines so I can't tell you anything about them. Rumely built 804 6A's in 1931. The engines in them were 4.25x4.75 and had babbit bearings. I don't remember the engine tag saying anything about MZA. The magneto drives off the water pump on the left hand side of the engine. Rings are easy enough to get - 1/4" oil ring like an unstyled B JD, compression rings were 1/8". Got ours from Dave Reed at Otto Gas Engine. I never heard of any other manifolds that would fit the 6A. You can get a reproduction manifold. If you need one, let me know and I'll look up the address. If you don't find the parts, try an ad in "Rumely Collectors News" www.rumely.com. The color is Brewster Green which was also used on '49 Mack Trucks, Martin Senour 99L-2599 or duPont Dulux 24166. I mixed my own with Hunter Green and black until it looked right. Matched perfectly.

Thanks for the info Brenda. By the way what number is your tractor and where are you located. I'm about 25 miles east of St Louis Missouri and I believe my tractor to be serial#809. The block was stamped 6a809, but can't be copletely sure as the previous owner still has my serial tag but its supposed to be coming soon.

We have #1036 and #1066. The number is stamped on the front of the tractor on the flat place just below the radiator - in the center. The number on the block doesn't always match the tractor number. It probably has an Allis Chalmers serial number plate. There were still 700 in the warehouse when AC bought out Rumely in 1931. AC painted over the green with Persian Orange on some of them before they sold them. We live on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. There aren't many 6's around here. Someone told me there were a lot of them in Michigan and up that way. A picture of #1036 is posted on here, click on "tractor photos" at left and search for "Rumely 6", it should come up. We haven't restored #1066 yet.

Yes there seems to be a cluster of them in the upper midwest Wisconsin, Michigan and I've also found quite a few in Missouri and here in Illinois but I believe the latter to be imported by collectors. I'd really like to get a count of how many are left.

PS Hope mine looks that good when I'm done.
