i am having trouble wiring my generator the bearings were replaced and the generator was bench tested and proved to be good

the original light switch/regulator has been changed

my tractor is a 1949 model a the generator came off a 1950 model r but the numbers match those in the book

the tractor had an alternator on it when i got it and is currently still on it however i would like to go back to the generator to be more original

the system has also been changed to a negative ground instead of the original positive ground

i have tried a 3 way light switch but can't get the system to charge and it also has a heavy current draw at all times

if anyone can help i would appreciate it

you don't need to hook up a three way switch on your tractor, you should have a positive wire comming from your generator and that goes to your ameter gauge and you should be able to ground it just about any place and if you no how to use a meter might help you as I can do this kinda stuff in the dark. I have redone many of tractors and I guess the more that you do the better you get at it. I don't no if you have a regulator on your generator if so you might get confused. good luck and just hang in there till you have it done Carl Finley

Hello,

I have also been trying to locate a wiring diagram for a BF Avery A or R series. I do have a BF G -MM series wiring diagram that is close, but not exactly like the original wiring setup. I was hoping I could also acquire the wiring diagram that has been posted in this series for the BF Avery A or R. Thank you very, very much!!!

I don't see why you can't use a Farmall Cub wiring diagram. Here's a link that shows the wiring for early Cubs with the 3rd brush gen with the hi/lo/headlight switch and the later Cubs with a std generator. Good luck.
