Dose anyone out there have any information about the John Deere model 40V, John Deere model 440 dozer, and Barrentine tractors? I need a transmission housing for my dozer. People have told me that the little 40Vwas produced for only 2 years, and no one knows anything about the Barrentine. The Barrentine is a Model 61, with the serial number SP66M75. This is the weirdest contraption I have ever seen. It was apparently built for the county of Lincoln, in Mississippi for roadside bush-hogging service, because it has a side-mounted clipper on it. The seat is offset to the right side of the rear-end, with the engine sitting beside the seat. The transmission is at the front of the driver's seat, and connects to the engine by a belt-driven system. The clipper is raised and lowered by cables and pulleys, and is also belt-driven. S omebody help me please!

JD 40V...Not very common, so it is rare. Basically it is a Standard model with larger rear wheels and taller front spindles. It does NOT have the extending spacer between the transmission and torque tube, as a high crop, H, would. The spacer was added as Deere felt that the hi crop needed the length for added stability. Without matched implements, the H and V models are pretty much toys or to look at. They were made for use in fields with raised beds, pretty much useless in hay or crop farming. 440D Theyre around. Use lots of ear protection if you are going to operate it very long. Barrentine is a mystery to me.
