Does any on this thread know of any in existance except in museums. I run on in the early 50's and thought they were great. Used it on a sheepfoot roller.

Believe one sold in last year either on this board or ebay. Seemed relatively complete with winch, compressor and generator, think the price mentioned was $3500. Seems like picture was posted but cannot find file for additional info.

Could you explain the M-5 with more detail? I know about the MG 1 & 2, never heard of the 5

The M5 Tractor was used during WW2 to pull aircraft around the airfields. It was a hard rubber tracked tractor, with (I believe) a continental gas engine. I might be wrong there. The one I drove had the air compressor taken off and other military items removed before sale. I may have had a waukasha engine, not sure. It would go pretty fast in high gear. They were sold as military surplus after the war. Don't know how many were built but suspect quite a few.

Sure wish I did. I found a picture of one over in WW2 Military Vehicles and Equipment. They call it the M5 Military Tractor. You might find one on Google. The one I saw had the airconpressor and other aircraft servicing items on it to include an air compressor. I wish I cold find the one I drove in California in the 50's. Probably junck now. Lot's of luck in finding one.

Please forgive me, I incorrectly identified the tractor. I just now checked the picture and it is the M2 not M5 military aircraft tractor. Type this title in to Google and it will come right up. Click on it and there it is. Isn't it a bute!
